Perfect tour and beautiful Alquézar Our guide, Marta, was perfect—friendly, kind, punctual, knowledgeable, and a safe driver. I had wanted to visit Alquézar ever since seeing Casa Pardina Restaurante featured on a Japanese TV program for Spanish learners; I found this tour, but I was truly surprised to discover that lunch at Casa Pardina was actually included. Marta loved my story and introduced me to Ana—the chef who is also the mayor of Alquézar—and Ana was delighted to meet me, which made me so happy. It was a dream tour that perfectly satisfied my interests in language, history, and cuisine. I want to visit Alquézar and Zaragoza again—and see Marta and Ana again, too! Delightful Deliciousness Door to Door to Door. I had a delightful evening! Marta was superb. She gave an excellent overview of Zaragoza and the food scene in the old part of the city. She was knowledgeable of the history, the culture and the foods. I especially loved her personality, her positive energy brought the small group on the tour to life. Marta was also careful to explain the types of foods we were tasting and she made sure that food allergies were not an issue for anyone. I feel that she arranged a perfect evening for the group. Fabulous evening discovering tapas and wine in Zaragoza Marta was fabulous! Warm, chatty and knowledgeable. Made us feel completely at home in Zaragoza. The tapas bar selections were well made and the wine choices were superb. We had a ball! The only regret is that we did this near the end of our holiday. Fantastic Experience Jorge was an excellent guide for this cooking experience. He was welcoming and fluent in English, but we chose to speak Spanish for the duration of the tour. Jorge met me promptly in front of the market and he was able to tailor the tour to my liking. He explained the background of the market and the ingredients we were purchasing in an engaging manner. We took a short walk to the cooking space and Jorge shared some history of Zaragoza along the way. Preparing the regional food together in the kitchen was one of the highlights of my trip and everything we made turned out delicious. I appreciated that he shared the recipes with me afterwards. Wonderful guide, wine experience and spectacular Alquezar visit! Our guide Marta, was delightful, punctual, very knowledgeable, very safe driver, very attentive to our needs. The day was very well planned out, thoroughly enjoyable! This was a private tour and we were picked up at our hotel on time in a very comfortable sedan. During the drive to the Somontano area, Marta was very responsive to our questions and provided great enhancements on the history, geography and personality of the region and our specific visit areas. The winery tour was excellent with some unique “wine nose” testing- fun experience- , a well crafted bodega tour, and a very nice tasting session. Was the wine OK?? The answer is “Yes.” We left the bodega with extra “baggage.” The Alquezar experience was spectacular! A good bit of a hike, but worth every step. Again, Marta provided wonderful historical insight on the Alquezar. One must see it to believe its location and personality. So worth the effort along with a beautiful lunch with view to round out the day prior to heading back to our hotel drop off in Zaragoza. Do this tour - Marta is the best! Marta made Zaragoza so memorable for us! She was very knowledgeable of the city, tapas, and wines, and had us try things we would not have tried on our own. I have allergies and my boyfriend is picky, and she customized tapas selections for us that were outside our comfort zone, but we very much enjoyed. Zaragoza is magical! Marta was truly such a joy for us to spend the evening with. It was a random Thursday before a holiday weekend and it just ended up being us and Marta as they gear up for a busy few days. Marta was awesome to say the least. We learned so much about Zaragoza and it’s very interesting history. She entertained all our quirky history questions and took us to truly amazing tapas places. Everything we tried was delicious even those tapas that were outside of our normal “comfort zone.” Marta will not steer you wrong! So just trust and try! This was such a great way to learn about this beautiful city through a tour guide who you can tell is passionate about this area and is eager for us to gain that same appreciation. 100 stars for Marta! It is hard to come up with superlatives to describe the four hours we spent with Jorge shopping for food and then using it to cook a delicious and authentic Aragonese lunch. We learned a lot about everything from Spanish produce to how to cook with an induction stove to tricks for crisping up the paella but we also had great conversations and ate like royalty. If we were to return to Zaragoza, we'd line up several of Rutica 41's tours both in and outside the city. Highly Recommend! The four hours we spent with Jorge breezed by and everything about our experience was top notch. Learning about Spanish produce in the market was fascinating, the cooking part was lots of fun, and the food was delicious. Marta Piñeiro was our guide for two tours: the Monumental and Tapas tour in Zaragoza, and the Somontano Wine Excursion & Visit to Alquezar. We recently did a 3-hour food tasting tour  in Zaragoza, and I can't recommend it highly enough! Our guide, Marta , was absolutely lovely.  Her extensive knowledge of the city's history and culture truly enhanced the experience, making it much more than just a culinary adventure.; her passion & enthusiasm for the city was infectious!  The tour was a great introduction to the delights of Tapas , we visited local restaurants  that we would never have found on our own. We in the fun city of Zaragoza for a couple days and booked a cooking lunch with Jorge at Rutica 41. Absolutely loved it! We started by picking up ingredients at the market, then went back to cook several local dishes. Jorge was a fantastic host and instructor! We had a wonderful cooking lunch with Jorge. The dishes were simple and straightforward, and easy to recreate at home. It was just the two of us, and because Jorge lived in Germany for five years, we were able to converse in German the whole time while we cooked and then enjoyed a nice bottle of wine. Marta for the win! The tapas and wine tour in Zaragoza was so much fun! My sister and I absolutely loved our guide Marta. We were a little late to the meeting spot because it was Good Friday of Semana Santa (Holy Week) and the processions were in full force. Thankfully, Marta waited for us and was more than happy to accommodate our desire to watch the processions while also enjoying the tour. Excellent tour of Belchite This was a wonderful tour of an olive oil facility and of the ruins of the town of Belchite, dating to the Spanish Civil War in 1938. The tour of the olive oil facility was interesting but the main draw for me was Belchite and the Civil War history. Awesome experience Had a great time with Jorge, the friendly, knowledgeable guide. I was the only person at this class, and Jorge went out of his way to make the experience very memorable, taking me to the market, buying ingredients, and chatting with me about his life in Zaragoza and the culture of Spain. We made several dishes: a tapa with potato, jamon, and boreja (spelling? Almost a sort of spiny spinach); a paella with lamb and longanisa sausage; a tortilla Espanola with potato and onion; a tomato salad; and a torrija, or a French toast with cinnamon, orange and lemon zest, and milk. All the dishes were delicious, well-made, and I really learned a lot. I really enjoyed the experience. Both Zaragoza and Jorge are highly underrated--definitely sign up for a tour with him. No whining about this wine excursion This was an incredible cultural experience! I am a non-drinker who partook on this special occasion with no regrets. We walked to four locations over the course of the tour, four places that I would never have otherwise discovered. I am unfamiliar with tapas which is why it was so helpful having a cultural guide. They were able to easily make adjustments to both the food and beverages based on the participants. The location that we met up at was central and easy to find. Such a fun and interesting experience! This was such a beautiful experience! It was just me on the day, but the guide Jorge made the day so comfortable and interesting. We shopped in the markets and then spent a few hours cooking up local dishes typical of Aragon. I can’t even pick a favourite, everything was delicious and easy to learn! Authentic Spanish olive oil and civil war history experience When I visited the olive oil press, they were in the middle of the harvest so I was able to see the collection and pressing of the olives first hand. I also had the pleasure of seeing the oldest olive tree in the region on a beautiful, secluded farm. However, the highlight of the trip was the old Belchite town. If you are interested in the history of the Spanish Civil War, this is something you need to see.
