Aditional information

Cariñena is a Spanish Denominación de Origen Protegida (DOP) for wines located in Campo de Cariñena in the province of Zaragoza (Aragón, Spain).

It is among the oldest protected growing areas in Europe, the DO having been created in 1932 alongside other Spanish wine regions. The region is the acknowledged source of the Cariñena / Carignan grape, which is also grown in France, Italy, California, and several other New World regions.

Fuendetodos is a small village in the Campo de Belchite region, bordering Campo de Cariñena, and today it is associated with the painter Francisco de Goya, since he was born there in 1776. Since 1990, between 20000 and 25000 people visit Fuendetodos every year.
